What’s the song about?

The title refers to the feeling of anxiety and fear of the year — the feeling of wanting to fight or run. This song is a bit more mournful than some of my other music, but I liked the overall emotional tone of it.

Where did the idea come from?

It started out with playing with chord progressions, and I just loved how it sounded. It originally sounded very jazz-like, and then I mildly switched up the instruments to be just a little electronic. But the instrument still mostly feels like a jazz song, so I looked for some vocals that seemed to match that.

How did it come together in the studio/production?

Mostly jazz-feeling with a slight electronic twist. No real lyrics to speak of. There’s some marimba in there too.

Favourite moment in the track

I really liked the part where the synthesizer comes in for a solo — it surprised me how well it worked within what was essentially a jazzy song.
