What’s the song about?

It’s based mostly on a vibe. It sounds a little muddy, but also a bit like climbing out of the fog — alternating between the grunge and the soar.

Where did the title come from?

My job professionally is fractional leadership, so I thought the idea of a fractional person seemed evocative and weird. I love evocative and weird, so I knew I had to name a song that.

How did it come together in the studio/production?

The main instrument has a grungy, guitar-like sound, combined with a soaring vocal background — it’s a choral instrument, not making any actual vocals but sounding like a choir singing along with an electric guitar and bass. The vocals are a little chopped up at points, sounding almost like they’re going through a fan. It had some more arrangement to it, with alternating between the grunge and the soar.
