What’s the song about?

The mood is melancholy but hopeful. It’s mostly instrumental with some sampled vocal clips. The title is because it has a vaguely trap-like sound genre-wise — complicated drums, and an otherwise fairly spare sound.

How did it come together in the studio/production?

I’ve always loved those high sounds. I found just one sound I liked in a drum kit, took it out of the kit, and made it into the whole sound. Then I added a synth to match the note at a lower frequency. There’s also a harp sound I duplicated and swapped backwards, so it swells and fades. And a plucked sound that provides a rhythm. I was pretty happy with how all the sounds layered and stood out — yet the song stays pretty spare and clean.

I was pretty happy with the whole track. I liked how it all came together.
