EP Q&A

What is this EP about as a whole?

That sort of anxious dread is sitting over a lot of my music right now. Even as the music sometimes sounds the opposite of anxious, I play with the fact that dread is in the background of everything. The premise is — well, just remember this album came out in November of 2025, and it’s a year until the fall. So what does that feel like? That’s the theme.

What does the title mean?

The title is named after the first song. It’s based on the idea that 2025 was a really hard year, but I’m anticipating that 2026 will be a year of trauma, where things really fall apart.

Why these three tracks together?

I wanted to put together a couple of tracks at the same time and try to tell a story together with them — to see how that was different than releasing a bunch of singles. I looked for music I was working on that sounded good together, and that was the result. It starts out very aggressively with an intense and climactic song, then goes into a grungy but swelling song, finishing with a loungy but also kind of mournful final song. I was pretty happy with the ride.

How did the EP come together?

One thing I loved about doing an EP was that you know the emotional tone you’re coming off of when you go to the next song. So you’re able to take the person on more of a ride together.

The artwork

The artwork was taken when I was in Paris with some friends from college. We went and visited this really modern part of Paris — I don’t remember the name of it — but we were walking along and we saw that when we looked up at this building, it looked really crazy. We were all looking up at it and I took a picture of my friends looking. It ended up being one of my favourite photos.
